Halloween 2013 Playlist

I tried to make a fun rock mix, what you'd want to hear at a party.  I used some original classics, a few covers, and randomly applicable songs.

If your guests are like mine and tend to hang around the whiskey and snacks instead of the front room that you spent time decorating,  you can play my YouTube playlist on the TV for something to watch, or just check the songs out before buying them. Some of the videos are not executed very well but were chosen for sound quality.  If I have time after finishing my Friday the 13th Kill-Reel, I'll make some new music videos to switch them out.  I did use the video versions for the majority of the songs, but most could, obviously, be switched out for shorter, less talk-y, versions if you prefer.  If you're interested in freegally downloading the songs without video, http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ will convert the video tracks to mp3.  You can leave a comment here with your email and I'd be happy to link you to the EXACT song versions I used.  I guess I should add a little disclaimer that I do, in fact, own the original albums or purchased the individual songs from iTunes before swiping edited versions from YT, most notably the video of No One Lives Forever for its introduction, cutting the track in iTunes at 5:06 when they yell "HEY!" for a slightly more entertaining introduction than the original track on Dead Man's Party.

1. No One Lives Forever - Oingo Boingo
2. Pet Cemetery - Ramones
3. Start Wearing Purple - Gogol Bordello
4. Science Fiction Double Feature - Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
5. Pussy Liquor - Rob Zombie
6. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
7. Tie Die (Hippie Killer) - Marinade
8. I Put A Spell On You - Screamin' Jay Hawkins
9. Ghouls - HorrorPops
10. Little Red Riding Hood - 999
11. Love Potion #9 - The Searchers
12. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
13. Little Drop of Poison - Tom Waits
14. Among the Dead - Tim Armstrong
15. People Are Strange - The Doors
16. Goo Goo Muck - The Cramps
17. Frankenstein - New York Dolls
18. Monster Mash - Zombina and the Skeletones
19. Dracula - Gorillaz
20. Mr. Crowley - Ozzy Osbourne
21. Skulls - The Misfits
22. Halloween - The Creepshow

What's on your Halloween playlist this year??

Sunset Tutorial

Emily  of In the Land of Gallifrey requested a sunset tutorial using Madd Style Cosmetics.  We have been having a lot of wild fires in the Salt Lake valley this summer, so I chose to do a brighter, much more orange look.

What you need:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Orange base- I used Maybelline's 24hr Color Tattoo in Fierce and Tangy.  You could use an NYX jumbo pencil or any other base that is orange.
  • MSC Ichabod
  • MSC King Moonracer
  • MSC Rambozo
  • MSC Bitchslap
  • MSC Lust
  • MSC Peep Show
  • MSC Sparkle Motion
  • Black eyeliner
  • Black Mascara

Tutorial under here!Collapse )

I'm a bad blogger, bad, bad blogger.  I've just been so busy with "growing up" junk, that I forgot what my passions were.  Well, I'm back *for good this time* to my old self, and what better way to come back than to roll around in one of my favorite Madd Style Cosmetics' color, Gypsy Punx!?
Gypsy Punx! was discontinued due to supply issues, so I've been more or less hoarding a couple pots, but I recently came upon a third pot and decided that I needed to wear it everywhere I possibly could, including my nails.  This is definitely not a "professional" frankening tutorial; it's just a quick, casual polish.  I've played here and there with some frankening, so I DO have a few pointers for those that want to do it just for fun.
Before you mix all your pretty pigments into a bottle of polish, I will say: DO A TEST RUN FIRST! For my play-polishes, I put a little bit of my piggies and/or extra glitters in to a clean, used bottle cap, and put the polish on over top. If you just want a one-batch polish, you can use them as a mini bowl to mix your manicure in.  If you're planning to make a fullish bottle, let it sit, covered in some cling plastic, to make sure your glitter isnt going to bleed or melt.
If you are planning on frankening regularly, you should look into new, unused containers to test your concoctions in.  I'm all about DIY-on the fly-punk rock stuff, so of course, I am going to suggest the cheaper way for personal use, but safety comes first so PLEASE do not randomly throw crap together and sell it.
For a full bottle franken: If you are using a polish that is already suspending glitter, you can mix in a clear coat to dilute it, or you can buy a suspension base with no glitter.  If you are just going to use a top coat, or base coat with no suspending qualities, you'll want a little metal BB or bead to help mix your polish for when it starts to settle.

So there you have it.  A quick and easy way to wear your favorite color ALL the time, to perfectly coordinate your eyes and nails, something to do if you're bored, etc etc.

Hi again everyone!!  Wow, it's been a minute!  Anyway, in case you didn't read the blog title, I am back with another giveaway...
I bought two of each of the Madd Style Cosmetics' Wonderland collections, and I just have sooo much makeup, I will never get through it all... what better way to destash two brand new makeup collections than to give them away??

So:  Here is the deal.  I want you (yes, YOU) to create a look inspired by Alice in Wonderland.  You can submit two looks, total.  The catch?  You can only submit one look per collection.  The collections are Psychadellic Wonderland (seen here) OR Twisted Wonderland (seen here).  So, if you decide to go with the light, airy, childish or head trip side, make sure you show/tell me your inspiration, and that you are entering for the PSYCHADELLIC collection.  If you decide to go down the creepy, scary side of Wonderland, show/tell me your inspiration and that you are entering for the TWISTED collection.  If I don't know which collection your look is entered for, I can't put you in to enter it.

You do NOT need to use Madd Style Cosmetics for your look, I would, however, like to know what brand/colors you use.  Your look can be, but is not limited to, nails, face, hair looks.  Please submit your look photos to my Facebook Fan Page.
Make sure that your looks are new, and for this contest only.  Make sure that I can tell that it is YOU and not someone else.  By submitting a photo, you give me permission to publish the photo, with credit given to you, on my blog and/or facebook page.

I will be choosing a winner for each collection not necessarily based on skills, but also on creativity.  Winners will be announced July 6th, 2012.  They will have 48 hrs to respond with their mailing info to claim their prizes!

If you have any questions, please feel free to comment on this blog!

Apr. 24th, 2012

For those of you who have been following me (LJ users or not), hopefully you noticed my new blog "header" up there ^^^^

I was having an internal debate whether to extend my Monster and Bride photo's life living at the top of my blog, and even considered making this Addams Family photo the new header:

While I do dearly love morbid and grotesque love ... I think that something a little more political deserves a fair standing here.  Generally, I try to keep most of my posts pretty unbiased on surface chatter, but I think I am going to start posting more "me" blogs in addition to makeup blogs.  SO, I have a tagging system over on the right side of my blog.  IF you'd rather only see my "blah" posts (like this, just my banter), DIY stuff, makeup, or contests, you can just click that tag to see them.

I get a lot of makeup requests in groups but my hands are still being tarded more often than not so I have perfected ONE look with my project hit pan that I can usually execute neatly, but really if there is any tutorial requests, feel free to comment or email them... or post them on my facebook makeup page... non makeup tutorials can go on my shop facebook page...

OKAY and lastly, maybe we can set up a Q and A?  If I am going to make my blog more personal, what would you like to know about me?  Obviously I am not going to give you my Social Security number, passwords, etc.  but if you are following my blog, you must be interested in something more than a pretty face ::bats eyelashes::

Okay, well ttfn.

Lucky! Contest Winners!

As promised, Mo Love of Madd Style Cosmetics released the photos of the **new** Saint Patrick's Day collection today (you can see her swatches at the end of this post), and you know what that means!  I have a winner for my contest!  As I read through people's inspirations, many made me smile, some made me laugh, and a few made me misty-eyed.  Once again, I had a hard time choosing a winner, so I took a handful of my favorites, both in inspiration and execution, to a panel of judges (The Madd Models!) to choose a winner.

Saint Patrick's Day Contest

I love Saint Patrick's day!  Everyone can be a little bit Irish on St Patty's day, and on top of that, it is my anniversary with the love of my life (and he is Irish LOL!).  With all that said, I want to pass on some of that love to you!  This is gonna be a quicker contest than I usually do, since my Youtube Subscriber giveaway just ended, and ...well, one of the prize's drop date is in exactly ONE WEEK!

Soo... Here is what is up for grabs:

The NEW, UNRELEASED Saint Patrick's Day collection from Madd Style Cosmetix.  Like I said, this releases on March 1st, 2012.  A little bird told me there are going to be some super, fucking awesome colors in this collection, so I couldn't resist!  This includes around 5 full size pigments, and a glitter pack...assuming that it is the same as the past collections...

One full size Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original.  This is my favorite primer of all time.  You will be receiving the genie-style bottle pictured since I had planned this giveaway before they released the squeeze-y tubes.  Yes, I stole this stock photo from the website, however, I am hosting my own image so there.

One TRAVEL SIZE Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero.  I LOVE Urban Decay 24/7 liners!  Zero is my go to liner for a day-time look; it lasts forever on my waterline AND on my lashline.  Again, this is a stock photo.

NYX jumbo crayons in Milk and Black Bean.  These are the perfect bases!  If you haven't used them before, this product is the base that, up until recently, I have used exclusively.  You can use them as is in the stick, or they are VERY easy to de-stick in to a pot. Stock photo used; Milk is matte white, Black Bean is matte black.

Since I am sending you all this makeup, I figured I may as well include a cosmetic bag.  This super cute, polka dot bag is expandable and large enough to hold MORE than just what I am giving away.

So... How do I enter???

-First of all, you must be 18+ years of age, or have your parent's permission to enter.

-You must be a fan of Madd Style Cosmetics on Facebook.

-Post your best "Lucky" look on the Madd Style Cosmetics fan page
-You do not have to use Madd Style Cosmetics to win.
-You DO have to put in the photo's captions that this is an entry for KissZombie's Lucky contest.
-In the photo's caption, tell me how your look is inspired by "Lucky."  In other words, is this the makeup you wear when you need a little bit of luck?  See a penny, pick it up?  Catch a leprechaun?  The possibilities are endless.  I want to know what inspired you!
-You must be identifiable in your photo; do not steal someone else's makeup looks.
-You can ONLY post one look as an official entry.  Multiple entries will be disqualified.
-By entering your look, you are giving me permission to publish it on my blog (giving you credit, of course)

Entries will be accepted until February 29th; the winner will be my favorite look, announced on March 1st when the Madd Style Collection is released!

Sugarpill Chromalust swatches

PLEASE NOTE:  My pictures are a LITTLE dark; the sun was setting as I took these, but they are pretty true to color other than a shade dark.

Absinthe, Birthday Girl, Darling, Decora, Goldilux

Decora, Goldilux, Hysteric, June Bug, Lumi, Magentric

Hysteric, Junebug, Lumi, Magentric, Starling, Tiara, Tipsy

I will definitely be wearing June Bug over black bases, since that brings out the green in it.
